The fishing

The club offers in excess of 18 miles of excellent fly fishing. With wild brown trout on the upper beats up to Oughtershaw and Cray, along with predominantly stocked brown trout on the lower beats below the stepping stones south of Kettlewell.

The Queens Arms. As pub locations go, they don’t come better than the Queens Arms at Litton in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The five-mile detour off the busy main Grassington to Kettlewell Road is well worth it for the stunning scenery and heartening hospitality at the quaint 17th- century inn. In 2012 the pub found itself under local ownership and an extensive but tasteful refurbishment took the white washed pub back to its former glory. Since February 2019 Michelle and Matthew Birtley have carried on the Queens Arms tradition, serving only home cooked & locally sourced ingredients and award winning pies. All the staff are friendly family or locals, including talented chef Matt. His outstanding home-cooked food offers all you could dream of on a pub menu, plus a little waft of the contemporary to keep things interesting. Handmade Pies and Puddings, Fresh Haddock, Hand cut Chips and Sunday Roasts are proving popular. The pub is home to The Lamb Brewing Company, established in 2019, where local expert brewer Thomas Crapper produces many popular brews including Lamb Pale Ale, IPA and a traditional recipe Dark Mild. Food is served in the bar area which you will share with the locals, farmers, their dogs and even possibly a visiting darts team. For larger party dining they have the cosy fire in the Littondale Bar to gather around, where they can seat up to 28 guests. For al fresco dining the pub boasts a large beer garden which seats 60 covers.

Ashfield House. An ideal option if you want to visit Yorkshire and explore the Dales, enjoy some local fly fishing or simply savour a stunning countryside retreat. Ashfield House is situated in the heart of Grassington village and offers homely friendly bed and breakfast accommodation, second to none hospitality, award-winning sumptuous food, private parking and charming, tranquil rooms in a Grade II listed building.

The Tennant Arms Hotel. A traditional country inn with 10 boutique hotel rooms. Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, in the beautiful village of Kilnsey, nestled beneath Kilnsey Crag with spectacular views over the Dales countryside. The pub was once an important coaching stop on the busy route from Richmond to London and retains much of it’s authentic rustic charm. It is also the original home of Kilnsey Angling Club.

The Falcon Inn. One of the Yorkshire Dales’ most famous traditional pubs. Used as the original location for The Woolpack in the popular TV series Emmerdale Farm, the pub has B&B accommodation in the form of 6 twin/double letting rooms 2 of which are en-suite. There’s also a cosy self catering cottage for hire that sleeps up to 3.

With award winning Timothy Taylors hand pumped ale as well as ale straight from the cask and superb Dales hospitality, the Falcon Inn is the perfect place to pop in for a quick lunch or to get away from it all for a few days. Open daily from 12 noon till 11 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 12 noon till 10.30 p.m. on a Sunday.

Membership and day tickets

Day tickets are £35 per angler, and can be purchased on the morning of fishing between 09:30-10:00 (on or after the 21st June at the earliest), from The Cafe on The Lake, located within the Kilnsey Park Estate.

Please note that payment for day tickets can only be made by cash or cheque.

Please take time to read the regulations of the club which can be found under the “useful information” tab at the top of the page.

Annual subs are £560 per season, with a one-off joining fee of £200 in the first year.

Our membership is currently full so can any interested anglers who want to join the waiting list please make contact via this website? We always endeavour to reply as soon as possible.

Arrangements can be made to take prospective members on a tour of the fishing beats in order to fully appreciate the benefits of membership.

CATCH RETURNS

We are introducing a new catch returns process which requires each angler to complete a form after each time they fish.

This data is essential to the club’s stocking strategy so can members, guests and visitors please make every effort to submit their catch returns within 24 hours of fishing? Identifying whether the fish are wild or stocked (identified by a removed adipose fin for 2021).

These catch returns will be totalled up by beat and will determine the following month’s stocking volumes.

It therefore goes without saying that if catches are not reported then it is unlikely that the beat will be re-stocked appropriately.

Click on the link below to download a copy of the catch return form. It will open in a new webpage in your browser and can then be downloaded to your computer’s ‘Downloads’ folder. It can be opened with the free version of Acrobat Reader which can be downloaded at Adobe.com. It is often already loaded on computers when they are new.
